STEP ABOVE CONSTRUCTION is Proud to have Worked with

2/9/2015

Tracy did an outstanding job remodeling our bathroom. My wife and I were extremely impressed with his meticulous craftsmanship. He demonstrated his expertise in plumbing, electrical wiring, and tiling. Tracy's greatest trait as a contractor is being able to quickly assess what you want, make some cogent suggestions, and then create your vision within space and budget parameters. He derives satisfaction in making his customers very pleased with his finished product.

Tracy is a pleasure to work with. He is honest, professional, prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, hardworking, conscientious, and highly skilled. The same attributes apply to his right-hand man, the aptly named Angel.

We give Tracy our highest recommendation, without reservation (and no, I am not a relative). Tracy nails it.

Tracy is easily the best contractor I've worked with. I have worked with him on multiple projects from home inspections to whole home remodels and each one has been flawless. He is meticulous about every detail and makes sure that every job he takes is finished on time, on budget, and to his exacting standards. It's not easy to find an honest, hard working contractor like Tracy. I would recommend him to friends family and all of my clients!

They did a great job.  Pricing was fair and service was great.  It is very hard to find and honest and reliable contractor so if you are looking, give Step Above a chance.

Review from Brenda’s Father

Tarzana, CA

2014

Hi, I'm Brenda's father writing a review of Mr. Jors reconstruction of her bathroom in her home in Woodland Hills, Ca.  Step Above Constr. is Mr. Jors. He tore out everything down to the studs, reframing as needed to correct the mistakes all the idiots had made before. He re-plumbed per code and rewired from the elec. panel to the bathroom per code. He dry walled for the wet area per code. He called in a tile expert who was exacting and demanding. His assistant knew most all the trades and performed with precision. In addition to this Mr. Jors was easy to work with, affable, and went out of his way to help my daughter with little things like replacing one socket in the bathroom chandelier that went bad, framing a new attic access to fit the architecture of her home, closing off a bathroom window with the exact siding to match the exterior of her home, tracing down electrical wiring that led to a secondary panel in the rear building, re-wiring the main electrical panel to downsize the secondary electrical panel in the out-building and making the out-panel electrically safe for her. How do I know this? I was on the job every day of the 3 1/2 weeks he worked on the job and observed his quality work. During this time I found Mr. Jors to be honest, reliable, and detailed beyond his obligation as a State licensed General Contractor. I didn't have to ask for a copy of his general liability policy, He offered it as an endorsed policy naming my daughter as additionally insured which protected her from any liability issues. How did I know to do this? I'm a California Licensed Civil Engineer who has managed multi-million dollar projects. Step Above Construction, with Tracy Jors ranks above five stars for quality work, ease and speed of construction, personality, and efficiency.  This comes with cautionary comments. DO NOT ask Mr. Jors to short cut his work or overlook items that need correction. He will not sacrifice his name and good work to save a day or two and a few bucks. It may cost you a little extra but when he finishes the job it will be safe and correct.

Review from Moorepark, CA

2014

Tracy remodeled our kitchen living room and family room for us.  We had major plans of taking out walls and moving things around to have an open floor plan.  From the first time we met him he was nothing but personal and exceptionally proficient.  We had a few other people bid on the job and none of them compared to Tracy.  He listened to what we wanted the kitchen to look like and helped us with the logistical aspect of it.  He was not forceful like some of the other contractors who came in to bid the job.  Tracy reassured us that whatever we wanted he would make it work and make it look great.  We took out 2 walls, removed a window, changed the fireplace, and redid some AC ducts. Took out all the old cabinets and flooring and replaced everything.  During the actual construction Tracy would offer ideas to change a few things that would help to give us the feel we were going for.  He never told us it had to be done or made us feel like we needed to take his suggestions, but we were very grateful for his advice.  We even made some changes of our own adding more work for him and he was more than willing to put in the extra time in order to make our kitchen look stunning.  It was very comforting having Tracy working on the kitchen especially when he had to spend time fixing some of the mistakes from the original builders as well as Home Depot who ordered our cabinets wrong.  We were never worried about how the kitchen would turn out because we knew Tracy had the eye for details and would spend the time to make it perfect.  To say Tracy is a perfectionist would be an understatement; he would stay and fix things that I didn't even see as a problem until he explained it.  As I said before Tracy spent a lot of time correcting mistakes that he didn't have to do.  He spent half a day rewiring our electrical because it had been wired wrong when the house was built. The people we ordered our counter tops from also cut them wrong but Tracy was able to make them work as well without even noticing their mistake. It's the little things like that that made us very appreciative we went with Tracy for the remodel.  Tracy always made sure he cleaned up anything that might be dangerous for our two little boys.  We are already making plans to have Tracy return to do work on the rest of the house, especially after we saw his remarkable work.  We have already had several neighbors ask for his card after seeing his work and we will continue to recommend Tracy to anyone who's looking for a contractor.

I recently hired Tracy to remove an old redwood deck and replace it with a new Trex deck.  From the get-go it was apparent that Tracy understood what I wanted and he listened carefully to what I was asking for.  The job was a little difficult in that we needed to keep the same form factor but also make some structural changes--I wanted fiberglass columns to cover the main support posts. Tracy asked some good questions and I felt like we were becoming partners in the project.  He presented his bid and identified the time frame for the project-- he also assured me that I would love the finished result.  Once we signed the contract he showed up on schedule and everyday he would clean up the site before leaving.  He really takes pride in his work.
Tracy is someone who understands the big picture but he also pays attention to the details and there were lots of little details on this job and he got them all.  He finished on schedule and cleaned everything up.  The new deck looks great--is structurally very solid and meets all of my expectations for what I wanted.

I give Tracy 5 stars (and by the way I am pretty picky about stuff.)

I would wholeheartedly recommend Tracy Jors for any home project of any size and complexity. He is amazing; a consummate professional who goes "a step above" for his clients. He transformed my icky, leaky, rotten-floored bathroom into a dream and did it all himself. He is totally reliable, shows up when he says he will, a perfectionist who takes pride in his work and -unlike many men - he cleans up after himself. There is nothing he cannot do and he does it all perfectly and with a smile.

My wife and I had Tracy take out our old shower, and install a new one. We were extremely pleased with his professionalism and competence. Thanks to Tracy, our bathroom turned out beautiful, and he also followed up with us, to make sure everything was working properly. I would recommend Tracy to anyone who is looking for help in repairing, or remodeling their home. We will certainly contact Tracy again, when the need arises.

It's rare to find a contractor who genuinely cares about doing a great job. Most guys I have used in the past take the 'easy' route and cut corners to maximize profit, you often have to watch over them to make sure they do it right, if you are lucky enough to catch it. Let's just say I have been stung a few times. With Tracy on the job I never have to worry, he has done several jobs for me and each time I felt like he was working on his own house, rare. His attention to detail is unmatched in my opinion and his finished work is impressive. He always cleaned up after each days work and even worked on weekends to stay on schedule. He reminds me of the 'Holmes on Holmes guy on TV, just the kind of contractor that you want on the job, knowledgeable, motivated and honest. He is my first call.

I have worked with contractors for 35 years and find Tracy to be in the top 5. He does exceptional work, meets deadlines, keeps costs in line with the job and does professional work for handyman wages. Tracy is the a rare breed with total knowledge of building from the ground up. I recently used Tracy on a job to do termite and dry rot damage repairs. He was extremely accurate in his assessment of the scope of work and completed the job so that no one would ever know that a problem had ever existed. But to frost the cake, Tracy cleaned up every bit of sawdust and debris that was from the repairs. The guy is great! Call Tracy for your next job,you won't be disappointed. Eric Waite

Tracy just finished rebuilding our upstairs deck and it looks great!  He was honest, hard working and paid close attention to detail. His price was very competitive and he always cleaned up after himself. He also removed the nails from the demolished boards so my dog wouldn't step on them. I will hire him again for the next construction job.
